Overview

Integrated Message Codes help Synctify OMS translate shipping-related codes between Synctify and your connected partners, such as sales channels, warehouses, 3PLs, and carriers.

Different partners may use different codes for the same carrier or service level. For example, one partner may send a combined code such as UPS_GR_RES , while another system expects separate carrier and service level values.

Integrated Message Codes let you manage how partner codes resolve to Synctify-recognized carrier codes and service levels. This helps orders and shipments use the correct shipping information when they move between systems.

Currently, Integrated Message Codes support:

  • Carrier codes
  • Service levels

Before you start

You can manage Integrated Message Codes from Integrations > Integrated Message Codes .

This page is available to authenticated admin users. Available actions may vary depending on the selected code type and context. Some system codes are read-only and cannot be edited or deleted directly.

Override an inherited code

Some inherited System codes may allow an override. Use an override when the selected context needs a different mapping from the inherited default.

  1. Go to Integrations > Integrated Message Codes .

  2. Select the partner, warehouse, or context that contains the inherited code.

  3. Open the code detail drawer.

  4. Click Override , if the option is available.

Manage carrier and service level codes

The Carriers list shows Synctify-recognized carrier codes and service levels that partner codes can resolve to.

In this article, the standard catalog refers to the carrier and service level codes listed under Carriers . These codes are used as the standard values that partner codes resolve to.

You can add your own custom carrier or service level codes if a carrier or service level you work with is not already listed.

Note

Custom carrier and service level codes exist only in your tenant’s catalog. They may not be recognized by external integrations. A warning is shown when creating or editing custom catalog codes.

Add a custom carrier or service level code

  1. Select Carriers from the left panel.

  2. Select the carrier you want to manage.

  3. Click + Add Custom Code .

  4. Enter the Code value.

  5. Select the Code Type :

    Carrier Code

    Service Level

  6. Optionally add a Description and set the Direction .

  7. Click Add to Catalog .

Edit a custom carrier or service level code

Only custom codes can be edited. System-provided codes are read-only.

  1. Find the code from the Carriers list.

  2. Click the code row to open the detail panel.

  3. Click Edit Partner Code .

  4. Update the Description or Direction .

The code value and type cannot be changed after creation.

  5. Click Save Changes .

Delete a custom carrier or service level code

A custom carrier or service level code can only be deleted if it is not currently mapped by any partner code. If it is in use, remove the partner code mappings first.

  1. Find the code from the Carriers list.

  2. Open the code detail panel.

  3. Click Delete .

  4. Confirm the deletion.

Preview and test mappings

Use Preview & Test to check how codes resolve before relying on them in order or shipment processing.

Preview and Test Mappings window showing By code, By warehouse, and By order number options with code resolution results.
Preview & Test lets you test how codes resolve by code, warehouse, or order number when the option is available.

Preview & Test supports different ways to review mappings:

OptionWhen to use it
By codeUse this option to test a single code mapping. This is helpful when you want to check how one partner code resolves in the selected context.
By warehouseUse this option to test how codes resolve against a specific warehouse or 3PL data source. This option appears only when a WMS-type integration is selected.
By order numberUse this option to review a real order’s complete business flow and actual results. This is helpful when you need to troubleshoot how carrier codes or service levels were resolved for a specific order.

Test by code

  1. Go to Integrations > Integrated Message Codes .

  2. Select the partner, carrier, or context you want to test.

  3. Click Preview & Test .

  4. Select By code .

  5. Choose the translation direction using the toggle:

From [partner name] — Enter the code the partner sends Synctify to see what it resolves to.

To [partner name] — Enter a Synctify standard code, such as a carrier code or service level, to see what code Synctify sends back to the partner.

This toggle is not shown when the selected context is a carrier, because carrier codes are themselves the standard codes.

  6. Enter the code value.

  7. Review the preview result.

The preview shows matching codes, their type, direction, and what each code resolves to.

Test by warehouse

The By warehouse option appears only when a WMS-type integration is selected. Use it to check how codes resolve against a specific warehouse or 3PL data source without switching the main context.

  1. Go to Integrations > Integrated Message Codes .

  2. Select the WMS-type integration or context you want to test.

  3. Click Preview & Test .

  4. Select By warehouse .

  5. Select a warehouse or 3PL from the dropdown.

  6. Use the direction toggle and code lookup the same way as By code .

If no warehouse or 3PL data sources are integrated, the dropdown will indicate that none are available.

Test by order number

  1. Go to Integrations > Integrated Message Codes .

  2. Select the partner, carrier, or context you want to test.

  3. Click Preview & Test .

  4. Select By order number .

  5. Enter the order number.

  6. Review the order's code translation path.

By order number shows how codes were resolved for a real order, including the flow from the channel code to the Synctify standard code, then to the outbound warehouse or 3PL code and the channel ASN code.

This can help you identify where a carrier code or service level became unmapped, resolved to an unexpected value, or differed from the value that was actually used during fulfillment.

Note

Preview reflects the mappings currently saved for the selected context. When reviewing by order number, the result may also help compare the currently predicted mapping with the actual value used during fulfillment.

FAQ

Manage Integrated Message Codes

Can a partner code represent both a carrier and a service level?

Yes. A partner code can represent a carrier code, a service level, or both. For combined codes, select both Carrier Codes and Service Levels .

Can I change the partner code value after creating it?

No. The code value cannot be changed after creation. If the value is incorrect, create a new code with the correct value.

What does an unmapped code mean?

An unmapped code is a partner code that has been added but does not yet resolve to a carrier code or service level. You can edit the code later to complete the mapping.

What does the Source column show?

The Source column shows where a code comes from. System codes are provided by Synctify and are read-only, while Custom codes were created by your team. This is separate from the code’s status, such as whether it has been overridden or is unmapped.

What happens if a code is inactive?

Inactive codes are kept in the system, but they are ignored during code resolution.

What happens when I delete an override?

Deleting an override reverts the selected context back to the inherited System code.

What is the standard catalog?

The standard catalog is the list of Synctify-recognized carrier codes and service levels listed under Carriers . Partner codes resolve to entries in this catalog. You can also add custom carrier or service level codes if the value you need is not already listed.

Why can’t I edit or delete some codes?

Some codes are provided by Synctify and are read-only in the selected context.

When a code is read-only, the row shows a System source badge. Hovering over a locked row may also show a tooltip explaining that system codes cannot be edited here. You can override a System code instead of editing it directly if the Override option is available.
