New Order Frozen Period

Estimated reading: 5 minutes

Last updated: May 28, 2026

Overview

The New Order Frozen Period feature allows you to automatically hold newly created orders for a set period of time before they are released to the normal fulfillment flow.

When this feature is enabled for an integration, new orders from that integration will first be placed in On-Hold status. During this period, the order will not be sent to the warehouse yet. This gives your team time to review the order, make necessary changes, or handle cancellation requests before warehouse processing begins.

Once the frozen period ends, eligible order lines will be automatically released and continue to the normal fulfillment process.

Note

The setting only applies to new orders created after New Order Frozen Period is enabled.

When should you use New Order Frozen Period?

Use New Order Frozen Period when your team needs a short review window before new orders are fulfilled.

For example, this feature can help when:

  • Customers request address changes shortly after placing an order.
  • Customers request order cancellations soon after checkout.
  • Your team needs time to verify new orders before warehouse processing.
  • You want to reduce unnecessary warehouse-side actions for orders that may be changed or cancelled shortly after creation.

How New Order Frozen Period works

When New Order Frozen Period is enabled:

  1. A new order is created from the connected integration.
  2. Synctify OMS automatically places the order in On-Hold status.

  3. The order remains on hold for the duration set in Frozen Period Duration (Minutes) .

  4. When the frozen period ends, the order is automatically released to the normal fulfillment flow.

During the frozen period, the order is not sent to the warehouse.

If a cancellation is created during the frozen period, Synctify OMS will handle the cancellation before the order is released. Order lines with active cancellations will remain on hold and will not be released to fulfillment.

What happens when the frozen period ends?

When the frozen period ends, Synctify OMS automatically checks the order and releases eligible order lines.

  • Order lines without active cancellations will move forward to fulfillment.
  • Order lines with active cancellations will stay on hold.
  • If all order lines are blocked by cancellations, the order may remain on hold while the cancellation process continues.

Important notes and limitations

  • New Order Frozen Period is configured per integration.
  • The setting only applies to new orders created after the feature is enabled.
  • Orders are not sent to the warehouse during the frozen period.
  • If an order is cancelled during the frozen period, Synctify OMS will prevent cancelled lines from being released to fulfillment.
