Overview

Shipment Routing allows you to organize and prepare shipments based on purchase orders, assign carriers, and generate shipment, SSCC, ASIN, and UPC labels for fulfillment.

In this guide, you will learn how to:

  • Understand shipment routing request statuses
  • Create a shipment routing request step by step
  • Download shipment, SSCC, ASIN, and UPC labels after completion

Shipment Routing Status Explained

Each shipment routing request goes through a lifecycle. Below are the key statuses and their meanings:

  1. Draft: The request is saved but not submitted.

  2. Submitted: The request has been submitted for processing.

  3. Pending: Waiting for routing or carrier assignment.

  4. Carrier Assigned: A carrier has been assigned to the shipment.

  5. Completed: Routing is completed and labels are available.

  6. Rejected: The request was rejected and requires correction.

  7. Cancelled: The request has been cancelled.

How to Create a Shipment Routing Request (Step-by-Step)

Step 0. Create a New Request

To start a new shipment routing request:

  1. Go to the Order > Shipment Routing Requests page

  2. Click Create in the top-right corner

You will be guided through a 4-step process to complete the request.

Step 1. Select Purchase Orders

In this step, you define the shipment scope by selecting purchase orders.

  • Select a Channel
  • Select a Ship From Warehouse
  • Choose one anchor PO under Ship-To Address
  • Add additional POs with the same destination
Step 1 screen showing purchase order selection and ship-to address
Select purchase orders and confirm the shipping destination.
Note

The first selected PO determines the Ship-To address. Only POs with the same destination can be grouped into one shipment.

Step 2. Add Shipment Content

The system will automatically load items from the selected purchase orders.

  • Review all items listed
  • Confirm the correct quantity for each SKU
  • Provide dimensions and weight if required

If dimensions and weight are already defined in the catalog, they will be auto-filled. Otherwise, values entered here will be saved back to the catalog for future use.

Step 2 screen showing a large table of SKUs with quantity inputs
Review and input shipment quantities for each item.
Note

This step may include a large number of items depending on your purchase orders. Ensure all quantities are accurate before proceeding.

Step 3. Set Packing Details

Define how the items are packed into cartons or pallets for shipment.

In Shipment Routing, shipments can be packed using either standalone cartons or palletized cartons, depending on your shipping requirements.

  • Configure packing structure
  • Assign items into cartons
  • Review the packing summary, including total cartons, pallets, units, weight, and volume
Step 3 screen showing packing configuration and item grouping
Define how items are packed into cartons or pallets.

The Packing Summary automatically calculates total cartons, pallets, units, weight, and volume based on the packing structure.

Supported Packing Structures

Shipment Routing supports two packing structures:

Standalone Cartons

Use this structure when shipping cartons individually without pallets.

					Shipment
 ├─ Carton A
 │ └─ Items
 └─ Carton B
      └─ Items

Typical for:

  • Small parcel shipments
  • Non-palletized shipments
Palletized Cartons

Use this structure when cartons are grouped onto pallets.

					Shipment
 └─ Pallet A
      ├─ Carton A
      │ └─ Items
      └─ Carton B
           └─ Items

Typical for:

  • Freight shipments
  • Palletized warehouse operations

Once a pallet is added, the shipment automatically switches to palletized mode. All cartons must then be placed under a pallet before submission.

Packing Validation

Before submission, the system checks that all shipment items are packed correctly and that packed quantities match the shipment quantities from Step 2.

Requests with missing or mismatched quantities cannot be submitted.

Step 4. Schedule Pickup Window

Set the pickup time window for the shipment.

  • Enter Earliest Time
  • Enter Latest Time
  • Select the correct Timezone
Step 4 screen showing pickup date and time inputs
Schedule the pickup window for carrier collection.
Note

Pickup time must be at least 2 business days from today. The system enforces this requirement automatically.

Submit or Save as Draft

After completing all steps, you can either:

  • Click Submit to start the routing process
  • Click Save as Draft to save and continue later

Draft requests will not enter the routing process until you click Submit .

You can return to draft requests at any time from the request list.

What Happens After Submission

Once you click Submit , the request follows a standard process:

  1. The request is submitted

  2. Channel accepts the routing request

  3. UPC and ASIN labels are auto-generated and become available

  4. The request enters Pending status while waiting for carrier assignment

  5. A carrier is assigned to the shipment

  6. When the request reaches Carrier Assigned, review the tracking numbers provided by channel, assign them to the corresponding shipment units, then click Confirm

Confirm modal showing tracking number assignment to shipment units and SSCC configuration
Assign tracking numbers to the corresponding shipment units (such as cartons or pallets) and click Confirm to finalize the routing request.
  7. The request reaches Completed status

  8. Shipment and SSCC labels become available
